Introducing the members of the 2007 Kuwait Caledonians Pipe Band: Bader Mohammed Radi (Kuwaiti - piper)
Honorary pipe-major and driving force behind the Kuwait Caledonian Society and its Pipe Band, Bader studied the pipes 17 years ago on an intensive 6 week course in Scotland. He has supported and taught the instrument in Kuwait ever since. Andrew Bates (New Zealand - piper)
Recent arrival to Kuwait, Andrew temporarily gave up piping many years ago. He is attending weekly practice sessions in preparation for the next Kuwait Caledonians' events. John Weston (Canadian - piper)
More than 10 years in Kuwait, John took instruction 37 years ago in Canada, played for dancing competitions and in the ANAVET 60 pipe band in Winnipeg. John gave up the instrument for almost 29 years until he was inspired by Bader to restart the instrument in 2003 and has performed with the band since February 2004. Lyndon Baines (Australian-American - piper)
Started playing the pipes at the age of 14 in South Carolina, Lyndon played with the Piedmont Highlanders in Grade IV band competitions. Lyndon went to the UK at the age of 20 to study at the University of Salford, and played part-time with the City of Salford Pipes and Drums and competed with them at Grade III level. He stopped playing after leaving university in 1993, and unfortunately lost his bagpipes in a warehouse fire while moving to Australia in 1998. In 2003 while living in Qatar, he purchased a set of Scottish small pipes on which he practised his Highland Pipe tunes until buying a former Caledonian Pipe Band member's Highland bagpipes in 2004. Stuart King (British - novice piper)
Virtually his entire life in Kuwait, young Stuart took up the chanter in February 2004. The 2004 St. Andrews Ball marked his first-ever public performance. Philip Weston (Canadian - novice piper) Philip has lived in Kuwait almost 10 of hi 15 years. He took up the chanter under Bader's tutorship, in 2004. The 2006 St. Andrews Ball marked his first-ever public performance.
The Pipe Band also has a number of other novice and experienced pipers who we hope will be performing for you soon. Jane Chacko Eugene Kemp
